Commencing in July 2009 Parramatta City Council has provided an incubation function to the establishment of Social Enterprises Sydney, including hosting the secretariat and funding its initial start-up costs.
Through the facilitation work of Social Enterprises Sydney, a group of collaborating organisations has come together to promote social procurement amongst the NSW public sector. The group has chosen to focus on social procurement as its uptake is key to developing an enabling environment for the growth of social enterprises.
All SPAG member organisations have made a financial contribution to the delivery of this project, participate in project management tasks, and are jointly overseeing the project’s delivery through regular meetings.
Other NSW public sector organisations (local, State and Federal representatives) are welcome to join the SPAG, on the same terms as existing members.
Social Enterprises Sydney is a member of the SIEE Alliance, an alliance of organisations working to support the growth and improve the impact of the social economy in Australia.
